The Girl Behind Fashion Over Matter

María José Grimaldo Martinelli is the founder/owner of Fashion Over Matter, a fashion styling company as well as a style blog.

María José is a Panama City based fashion stylist, personal stylist, image consultant, personal shopper, and all in all style expert. María studied fashion design in Istituto Manrangoni Milan for a year, and afterwards ventured into a four-year degree in Political Science and Law in Universidad Santa María La Antigua in Panama. Half way thought her law studies, María José started a style blog to showcase her style which began as a hobby and creative outlet where she would give style tips and suggestions, talk about the latest trend, and more. This “hobby” led her to her first job as a fashion stylist in Revista Mujer for whom she has worked since 2015.

Thanks to Revista Mujer many doors have opened for María José. She has worked for some of the most prominent magazines in Panama like: Revista Caras, Revista Ellas, Revista Like.

In her journey as a fashion stylist, Fashion Over Matter transitioned from a style blog into a full blown styling company in which she offers different services such as image consultation, personal styling, color study, wardrobe styling and more.

2016 was a big year for Fashion Over Matter and María José, since they worked on their biggest campaign to date, styling the Fashion Week Panamá 2016 advertising. This led her to work with the Señorita Panamá Organisation, in which she has styled their 5 different queens for the contest they attended: Miss Earth, Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Reina Hispanoamericana, and Miss Continentes Unidos.

Fashion Over Matter provides styling services to personal clients and media. María José seeks to showcase through Fashion Over Matter the perfect fashion looks for every job to bring a character, brand or editorial spread to life.

Her work has been seen on television, beauty queen contestants, magazines, individual clients everyday wardrobe, advertisement, and more.
