How to Mix Prints

Gingham and polka dots might not be your average combination. But last week when I walking through Zara, I couldn’t help but think about how it would look together.  And as I said before on a blog post, when I wear prints (which lately is more often than not) I like to go all out!

Here are some tips on how to mix prints:

Choose a dominant print. Whenever you are mixing prints, always remember than one most dominate and be the center of attention. In this particular outfit I chose the blue gingham skirt as the dominant print, while the polka dot t-shirt is the  accent print.

Choose prints in different scales. I chose a polka dot t-shirt with dots in a large scale, while the gingham print is smaller and more repetitive.

Choose prints in the same color family. As you can tell, I created a white and blue color story, with other color accents. But the prints, gingham and polka dots, are blue and white.

What I wore: T-shirt Zara (similar) | Skirt Zara (similar here and here) | Bag Tory Burch | Sunglasses | Slides Forever 21

Location: La Concordia Panamá
