How to Wear Black in the Summer

I feel like I need to start this post by citing quote: “Only the strong wear black in summer,” haha. Last week, when I browsing through the internet to find a quote to caption an Instagram picture, I found these words that just resonated with me. If you are the type of person that only wears black, you will definitely understand why!

Black always gets a bad reputation for not being “summer-appropriate”, but the trick to wearing black in the summer is all in the fabrics and fit you choose.

When I wear dark colours in the summer, I like to keep a flowy silhouette. Wearing skin tight dark clothes can definitely work against you, because the outfit might seem more night time appropriate.

Fabrics are also VERY important! Choose lightweight fabrics, and try to avoid at all costs dressing in head to toe leather – you will look out of place. Even though leather shorts are in, a leather jacket is just TOO heavy for summertime.

And last but not least, don’t be scared of mixing black with metallics. Do try to keep the metallic tones a bit matte, and any shiny embellishments very minimal. But always remember that fashion is about having fun! So if you feel like wearing a top with sequin embellishments on the shoulders, girl, I’m your number one supporter, hehe.
