Pinstripes + Ruffles

Usually im not a very trendy gal. Meaning that I don’t usually go all out with the season trends. I tend to stick to my black and white color palette in very modern and sleek cuts. BUT, something changed in me when I saw this pinstripe light blue top from Zara next to the beautiful red ruffled skirt I’m wearing.

As I told you before in an older post (link here), stripes are EVERYWHERE this season! One type of stripe that’s creating a lot of fuss is the forgotten pinstripe, which is a total comeback from the 80’s. I love how they look, plus they feel very menswear inspired which is always a good thing in my book.

This look I wore for a day filled with meetings, hence the very low heels, hehe. When I was getting dressed in the morning I just thought… light blue and red, pinstripes and ruffles: it can work. When I tried it on I felt very different, very feminine and chic, when I usually feel very elegant, sophisticated and minimal.

The thing is, that morning I just felt like looking very feminine, so I paired my menswear inspired pinstriped blouse with a ruffled skirt in the most beautiful red tone I could find in my closet. On a side note:  I just love how flowy and feminine this skirt looks! It’s so different from everything else I wear that I just thought I needed it in my closet.

I think it’s fun to play up with your style that way. To give it a twist every now and then! That day I got tons of compliments on how different I looked in a colourful outfit!

What I wore: Top: Zara (similar here) | Skirt: Via Vai – Panamanian store (similar here and here) | Bag: Louis Vuitton | Sandals: Zara (similar here and here)
