Tony Vergara is and will always be one of my favourite Panamanian designers. I love how he dares to push boundaries in a society that is so closed minded about what they wear.
This year, Vergara presented his AQWALUZ collection in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Panama 2016 edition on the first day.
I had the honor of interviewing him on the last day of fashion week. His words, as always, where very moving and deep. He described AQWALUZ as the collection he had dreamed of presenting all of his life. The perfect mix of ready-to-wear and haute couture. And I have to agree. While the collection on the runway looked very high fashion, the pieces if worn on their own can be used on the daily.
I have to commend Tony on his impeccable work. The most beautiful beading work can always be seen on his runways.
On another note, I loved his inspiration: the sea, which was shown in the fluidity of his garments, the colors that resembled a coral reef, and the shiny fabrics which created the effect of the sun shinning over the sea.
